Search Tips

Less is more: The glossary search automatically places a wildcard after the last character you type so that all words that have the same beginning characters will be returned. Therefore, the less you put in the more you get back.

For example:

Search key: "b" will find all definitions that start with "b"
Search key: "bu" will find "Bug", "Bus", "Bus mouse", "Bus speed", and "Bus Topology"

  • ileostomy
    An artificial opening of the small bowel onto the wall of the abdomen

    Common name for ulcerative colisis and Crohn’s disease.
  • infusion
    Introduction of fluid or medicines into an artery or vein
  • Internal anal sphincter
    Inner ring of muscle around the anal canal which works automatically to keep the anus closed at all times except when you need to pass a stool.
  • Irritable Bowel Syndrome
    Bowel disorder that causes an irregular and unpredicatable bowel habit, often constipation alternating with loose stools, and usually with some abdominal discomfort
